Hi!

Nynke’s Corner is my little corner of the internet where I share everything related to my hobbies. I like doing many things, but I mostly share about sewing, running and photography. This blog focusses mostly on sewing and is like my personal diary in which I share my thoughts, plans, and projects with however is interested.

My mom taught me how to sew when I was younger. We made a few simple pieces for me together, but it never really stuck with me because I was too impatient to enjoy the process. I hadn’t touched a sewing machine in years when the covid pandemic hit and everything closed. My mom had my aunt’s old sewing machine no one was using, and suggested I take it so I have something to do in lockdown. Little did we both know that would spark my love for sewing and eventually start Nynke’s Corner.

My aunt’s sewing machine was very basic and so were my skills. Apart from knowing how to operate a sewing machine, I didn’t have much knowledge or experience. I did remember much of the process from sewing with my mom, and that made it easier to get into it. In the beginning I made every rookie mistake you can think of. The first garments I made were not exactly wearable, but I had fun so I kept going. Slowly but surely, the quality of my sewing kept improving.

The turning point was a winter coat I made in March 2024. It turned out extremely well and I was so proud of it that I shared some pictures on Instagram. I received many positive comments and I really enjoyed sharing my creation. I haven’t stopped sharing my makes since :)
